The Gulf Film Festival 2014 scheduled to begin on 09 April has been postponed. The cinema celebration had the screenings scheduled to take place at Dubai’s Mall of the Emirates with more than 120 movies as entries from all across the GCC.
New dates soon
According to a statement from the organizers the Dubai International Film Festival has been put off and the new dates will be announced shortly. The statement informs that the seventh edition of The Gulf Film Festival was postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. It solicited the continued support of all friends and partners for the Festival as when the new dates are announced.
Dubai hosts this non-profit cultural event annually in the month of April. The GFF ensures that it showcases a diverse range of films from the GCC. The event is held under the auspices of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority and had its debut in 2008 and has since then become a catalyst in setting new standards to the Gulf Cinema.
The Festival has evolved as a platform to develop the local and regional films with so many opportunities for filmmakers to screen their films and develop film projects.
The Gulf Film Festival is also famous for being the venue to International Shorts competition where the best talent from around the world is honored. It goes to the credit of GFF in a short span of time it has become the platform for the best of Arab cinema and is ‘the destination festival’ for international film makers looking to discover the new cinema in the region.
The GFF also runs many industry activities under the inaugural Gulf Film Market that runs parallel to the festival encouraging GCC nationals in film related business at all levels.
